Milan given World Champions' badge

FIFA have awarded a special 'Club World Champion' badge to AC Milan to honour their victory at the 2007 Club World Cup.

The Rossoneri will wear the badge on their jerseys throughout 2008, until the new Club World Champion is crowned in December. Milan, concluded the website of Fifa, can show off on their shirts this badge of honour until the final whistle of the next World Cup final of Yokohama of the Fifa Club World Cup.

The new badge will also be provided to the winning club of all future editions of the competition, as well as the three previous winners of the cup - Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Internacional.

With the badge of the world champion team at club level, officially writes today the Fifa official website, fifa.com, the international Federation of football wants to award every year the winners of the world title and will be reserved, after Milan, also to the following winners of this great event. Ricardo Kaka was instead elected as best player of the most recent edition of the Fifa Club World Cup. Kaka declared: "This badge is a great idea. This symbole will remind us all that we are the world champions at club level and that until next December, no one can take this title away from us. It would be fantastic to win the Champions League again, to be able to defend this historic title again in Japan in December."
