Parma president Tommaso Ghirardi has revealed he sounded out Giovanni Trapattoni about taking over from current coach Mimmo di Carlo.
Trapattoni has since taken the Republic of Ireland job and Ghirardi said: "I did contact Trapattoni and talked with him. But I insist that I am confident of Di Carlo's capabilities."
The Parma supremo also revealed: "I'd like (AC Milan striker) Pippo Inzaghi to close his career here. I could give Milan Luca Cigarini, who is surely the only genuine heir to Andrea Pirlo."
